Obituary of June McCarron

McCARRON, June Marie — 67, Halifax, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at home. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary (Craig) McCarron. June worked for many years with Social Services until her retirement. She was an avid golfer and member of the Brightwood Golf Club. She was also a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by son, Shawn (Barbara) Shiebel; daughter, Kathleen (James) Cockroft, all of Halifax; grandchildren, Kyle and Cody Shiebel, Hailey, David and Courtney Cockroft; great-grandson, Anthony Richards; brothers, Craig (Neila) McCarron, Stellarton; Eric (Joan) McCarron, Burlington, Ont.; Mark (Sherry) McCarron, Calgary, Alta. She was predeceased by her partner, David "Minnow" Walker and sister, Susan. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of her wonderful friends who offered their support and prayers. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, January 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church with Father Rob Arsenault as Celebrant. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in June's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.
