Obituary of James Riach
RIACH, James Alexander 81, Glen Margaret, passed away on December 31, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Lerwick, Shetland Isles, he was the only son of the late John and Esther (Legge) Riach. He spent his youth in Campbelltown, Scotland, before joining the RAF, where he enjoyed a career as flight engineer and recovery specialist. Throughout his life, Jim worked as a Design Draftsman with Nautel Electronics, and with the Avro Arrow project. He had a great interest in travelling, computers, history, and especially aircraft. He had been a modelling enthusiast for many years and took great pride in detail and precision. He brought that attention to detail to every project - from home repair to travel itineraries. He was amazing at puzzles, and had the patience to finish them. He was a quiet, intelligent man with great depths, and a broad sense of humour. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 56 years, Jessica (Evans) Riach. Also, his son, Ian Riach (Kim), Tantallon, and daughter, Jane Riach (fiancé Michael Hiltz); grandchildren, James, Danelle, Shannon, Alexander, Morgan, and Heather, and great-granddaughter, Kaylee.
