Obituary of Hilda Purcell

PURCELL, Hilda Agnes — 92, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Violet (Slaunwhite) Charlton. Hilda was an avid golfer and bowler who loved to dance. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by sons, Daniel (Judy), Eddy (Barb), both of Halifax; Bill (Bev), Greenwood; daughters, Pat (Jim), Amherst; Judy, Halifax; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild; brothers, Cecil, Ottawa; Doug (Joan) and Gordie (Joan), both of Halifax; sister, Joan (Norm), Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ross Vincent; brothers, Bill, Joe, Louis and Eddy; sister, Mary. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Vincent's Guest House for their compassionate care and support. Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). By request there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment to be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
