Obituary of Pearl MacLeod

MACLEOD, Pearl Margaret – Halifax, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Northwood Center. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Bertha and William Ward. Pearl lived in the south end of Halifax all of her life. She worked at Klines in the linen department on Gottingen Street with her friend Bert Delaney; she also worked at the community store on Inglis Street with her husband Cecil. Pearl was a very outgoing woman who loved to shop; she was known for her hats, jewelry and outfits. She loved to decorate her apartment the lounge and the hall on the 4th floor at Joseph Howe Manor where she lived for 27 years. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by sons, Garfield (Vi), Barrie, ON; Brian (Bev), Windsor, ON; David, Alliston, ON; Jerry (Grace), Halifax; daughters, Tina, Halifax; Louise, Vancouver, BC; 31 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil James; son, Cecil Robert; daughters, Helen Grant and Sheila Cox. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Northwood Center 4th floor for their care and support. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., (477-5601). In keeping with Pearl’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 11 AM in Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
