Obituary of John McGrath

McGrath, John Reginald: 75, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Camphill Veterans Memorial Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Irene (Fredericks) McGrath. Throughout his life, John had worked at various places. He loved his family dearly, especially his niece, Shanna, who was like a daughter to him. He loved animals and will be remembered as being a “collector” of many things. He is survived by his brother, Bill McGrath, step-brothers, David (Brenda) Slaunwhite, and Charlie (Linda) Slaunwhite, a step-sister, Carol Carringan (Darrell), special niece Shanna MacMillan (Trevor), as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-brother, Courtney Slaunwhite. He will be missed by his family pets, cats, “Tigger” and “Jigger”, and his dog, “Ajax”. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of Abby Lane of Camphill for the compassion and exceptional care given to John. Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel with Rev.
