Obituary of Freda McGrath

McGRATH, Freda Ruth — 1927 - 2010. The family is saddened to announce the passing of our mom and grandmother on Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 82 years. After a short battle with cancer and with God's blessing, Freda has gone to be with her Saviour. Remaining to forever cherish Freda's memory are her son, Ernie (Madeline); grandchildren, Robert and Kayley of Winnipeg; sister, Greta Webber of Sackville; nephews, Fred, Scott, and Dana Hollis, Rhodes Webber and niece Susan (Webber) Rosevere. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ernie, of 43 years of marriage, passing in 1994; sister, Ardella Greeno in 2006; brother, Hance Hollis in 2008. Freda was the third child of Fred and Mary Adelia Hollis born in Halifax. She lived on Dentith Road, Spryfield her entire life until the passing of her husband Ernie in 1994, at which time she relocated to Winnipeg and resided with her son and family. After her schooling, Freda worked for many years at Simpson Sears in Halifax. Her greatest love was her family. Mom's gift was her natural ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of others. She was blessed to have had many good and loving friends in her life. Funeral service for Freda will be Friday 2 p.m. in the J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601). Pastor Wade Harvey officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery Halifax.
