Obituary of Floyd Nicholson
71, Hubley, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Born November 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Samuel and Ella Mae (Drysdale) Nicholson. Floyd was a loving husband, father and brother. He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force for 10 years, then moved on to work for the Bedford Magazine as a Federal Employee and then he moved on to become a well-known business owner with several different businesses. He was a past member of the Bay Road Fire Department, Hartlen Point Golf Club, Mayflower Curling Club and Oakfield Golf and Country Club. Floyd was very unique and interesting. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his wife, Paulette (Carter); his children, Julie (Brian) Abu-Dhabi, Anthony (Amy) and Patricia (Matthew), all of Halifax; brothers, Jack and Wayne (Donna); sister, Sharon (Larry) Sinclair; brothers, Darryl (Brenda) and Garry (Eleanor), all of Hubley; nieces and nephews; many friends. He was predeceased by daughter, Kathleen. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 12 noon in Emmanuel Anglican Church, 322 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye officiating. Reception to follow in the family home. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, or charity of one's choice.
