Obituary of Gladys Little
Little, Gladys Irene: 93, formerly of Terence Bay, NS, passed away on June 23, 2010 at Arborstone Enhanced Care, with her loving family by here side. Born in Terence Bay, she was a daughter of the late Isaiah and Quilla (Slaunwhite) Slaunwhite. Gladys had a very sweet tooth, and as long as she had her bottle of Heinz Ketchup, she was happy. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, and she also loved music. Gladys is survived by her sons, James (Shirley), White’s Lake, Joseph, Halifax, Ralph, Terence Bay, Wayne (Doreen), Patrick (Madeline), Dennis (Gwen), and Steven, all of Terence Bay, her daughters, Leona Norris (Harold), Lower Prospect, Valarie Pettipas, Terence Bay, and Geraldine Longard (George), Halifax, her brother, Carl, Terence Bay, and sister, Marion Slaunwhite, Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage, as well as 38 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was always proud to have been able to celebrate five generations with five of her children and their children. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick R. “Dous” Little in 1974, son, Gary, infant daughter, Patsy, brothers, Edward, Corbett, Reddy and Allison, sisters, Evelyn “Daughter” Slaunwhite, Edith Slaunwhite, Geraldine Slaunwhite, Annie Jollimore, Mae Slaunwhite, Ethel Slaunwhite, Ressie Slaunwhite, her grandson, Scott, granddaughter, Vicki, and her sister-in-law, Frances.
Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2 PM from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Terence Bay, with Rev. Lisa Vaughn as officiating clergy. Interment will take place in Star of the Sea Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Terence Bay Fire Hall.
