Obituary of Edward "Ted" Griffin

GRIFFIN, Edward Joseph “Ted” … 60, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward and Josephine (Weaver) Griffin. Ted served in the Navy for 25 years. Following his time in the Navy, he worked for various computer repair businesses and later owned and operated his own business. Ted then went to work for the Commissionaires with the Police Department, West Division, until his retirement in February of this year. In his spare time he enjoyed working on computers and was a devoted family man who enjoyed cottage life in Linden, NS. Ted will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his wife of 38 years, Valerie (Doney), Halifax; sons, Edward Joseph Jr. (Carolyn Walker), Timberlea and Michael David, Halifax; brother, David Michael (Theresa), Windsor, NS; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Margaret (McCarthy); several aunts and uncles, most recently Douglas Weaver; nephew, Jason McCarthy. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Divya Virmani, Dr. Lynn Bussey and the staff of QEII 8.2 for their compassionate care and support.
