Obituary of J. Carmen Mitchell
Mitchell, J. Carmen: Halifax, peacefully at home in Halifax on July 14, 2010. Carmen passed away in the tender loving care of his wife of 63 years, in his 87th year. Born in Hampshire, PEI, only son of Davis and Pearl (Easter) Mitchell. He leaves to mourn his wife, Maxine (Salmond), son, Harvey (Marlene), PEI, daughters, Elaine Taylor (Stephen), Dartmouth; Lorraine Perrott (Trent), Hatchet Lake, grandsons, Stephen Mitchell, Tyler and Luke Perrott, sister-in-law Marilyn MacPhail. Memorials gratefully declined. Carmen’s comfort and pleasure was the kindness of good neighbours, prayers, gifts, visits, phone calls and the many messages from his good friends in NB, PEI and NS. You helped him more than you could ever know to endure his long cancer journey with patience and a smile. Retiring in 1988, his summers were spent in Primrose, PEI. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 1:30 to 2:30, with a service of remembrance to follow in the funeral home chapel. The family will be receiving friends at 17 Stonehaven Road (Armdale) Halifax following the service. Visiting hours will be held in PEI, Sunday, July 18, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at 400 Trans Canada Hwy, Cornwall. Interment will be held on July 19, 2010 in Argyle Shore Cemetery.
