Obituary of Beverley Ninos
Age 83, Halifax, passed peacefully while sleeping on Sunday, July 9, 2017. Born in Halifax, Bev was educated in Halifax schools and completed her education at Miss Murphy’s Business College, her career started in the 1950s in Truro with a local insurance agency. She was a trailblazer in Nova Scotia for women within Property & Casualty Insurance Industry. In Her career she became an Independent Claims Adjuster, a Claims Manager for a National Insurer, retiring from the Industry she served so well as a Company Branch Manager. Bev was President of Insurance Institute of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Insurance Women`s Assoc, a member of the Maritime Independent Adjusters Assoc, Nova Scotia Chapter and the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers. Assoc of N.S. She was involved in forming the Society of Fellows, Atlantic Chapter, and was on the Board of Judgment Recovery (N.S.) Ltd. In 1978 she was also named Canadian Insurance Woman of the Year and enjoyed being a part of the insurance theatrical group. Bev was an avid gardener, very proud of her lovely rose garden and a great home cook where friends and family were openly welcomed. She will be remembered by many as a mentor and loyal friend. She is survived by her sons; Stelios "Donald" Ninos and Dino Michael Ninos, grandchildren; Troy Donald, Amber Nicole, and Lara Ann; sisters Joanne Soper Smith and Frankie Phillips; niece Tammy Askins and nephew William Soper. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. A memorial service will be held in the chapel August 12, at 1 p.m.. In lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
