Obituary of Geoffrey Donald Charters

It is with regret that the family of Geoffrey Donald Charters of Dartmouth, NS announce his passage on to Glory on 5th April 2018.  Born on 8th. November 1952 in Inverness, Cape Breton, NS, he was 65 years old.  He departed this world at Melville Lodge in Halifax.

 

Possessed of an adventuresome spirit, Geoffrey spent his working life in sales and trades.  The quality of all of his work was of a very high caliber.  He also studied at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB.  He loved people and animals both and rarely was without a furry companion at his side or curled up at his feet.  He lived in Bridgewater, NS and Fredericton but spent his last years in Dartmouth, NS.

 

Geoffrey is survived by his loving family, brother, Dr. Fenwick Charters of Langley, BC, sister-in-law Fonda Charters of Langley, BC, wife Darlene Hartigan-Charters, step-daughter Dynecia Hartigan,  nephews Timothy Charters of North Vancouver, BC and Andrew Charters of North Saanich, BC, nieces-in-law Anita Charters of North Vancouver, BC and Diana Charters of North Saanich, BC and dear little great-nephews Luke and Nicholas Charters of North Vancouver, BC; former spouse and special friend, Jeanie Kaulback. He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Fenwick Charters and his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” MacPhail Watling Charters.

 

Special thanks for their warm, tender, competent, highly professional and compassionate care of Geoffrey in his final illness go to the good people at Melville Lodge, Halifax.

 

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 2 PM form the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, kindly direct In Memoriam donations to the Melville Lodge, Halifax, the NSSPCA, and the Fuller Center for Housing.
