Obituary of David Lorne Whitman

Age 67 of Halifax, passed away October 22, 2018 at home with family members at his side. Born in Moncton, NB in 1951, Dave was a son of Doug and Loris Whitman of Riverview, NB.

He is survived by his partner, Fernand Bergeron; sons, Evan and Fraser (Vanessa); grandchildren, Olivia and Annalynn; sister, Cheryl (Bill) Shannon; brothers, Alan (Gretchen) and Richard (Janet); and Fernand’s siblings, Lise (Richard), Normand (Micheline), Gilles (Doris) and Anne.

Dave particularly wanted to thank his dear friends, Tom in Halifax and Blake in Ottawa, for having shared such special, long-term friendships with him. After graduating from Riverview High School Dave moved to Vancouver where he joined the Bank of Canada at an entry level. He spent his entire career at the bank in Vancouver and Ottawa and retired from the position of Senior Manager – Facilities Operations. Dave enjoyed travelling, painting, gardening, and model railroading.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
