Phyllis and I met in the Annapolis Valley in the 1970s. We enjoyed each others company and remained friends after I moved to Alberta. She visited me once in Alberta; she generously had me as her guest in her tiny apartment in Halifax in the 1990s; and we traveled to Hawaii together. We always kept in touch by mail, no matter where I lived. After I moved to Florida, I was shocked when I could not contact her. I got the Halifax Police to track her down and found out she had been hospitalized, with the beginnings of Parkinson's that caused her to fall often and break many joints. When she was unable to write anymore, we tried to keep in touch by telephone. When I discovered that red tulips are the symbol of Parkinson's, an artist friend of mine in Edmonton, Sandy Cross, painted Dancing Tulips for Phyllis. Dancing tulips because Phyllis loved paintings, the outdoors and she loved dancing. She told me that the Halloween Party Northwood Nursing Home had in 2017 was delightful because she got to dress up, and even in her wheelchair, she got to dance. Phyllis Hall was a fine, fine friend, and I am honored to have known and loved her.

Susan and Pam, your families and Aunt Phyl's friends: so sorry for your mother's passing. We (along with Mom/sister Virginia) had the opportunity to visit with her quite a few times over the last couple of years, and we had some good times and experiences. Like the time two years ago we all went for a ride to Peggy's Cove, to one of her favorite ice cream stands, and of course, to her favorite shopping spot, Value Village. She was our tour guide the entire time, and she could remember all the routes and roads. I always appreciated the fact that your family moved to Nova Scotia, as it led to our family moving as well, where Paul and I put down roots. We'll miss Aunt Phyl dearly, but we will always have our memories of our younger days with Aunt Phyl in Vermont, Newfane and Windham Hill (I think), and our later visits in Port George and Halifax, plus recently when Aunt Phyl would come down to our house for Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you for posting all the pictures and memories.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of an old old friend. Phyllis you we always very special to me throughout all these years that separated us. You were always very kind to me and treated me with respect. It was an honor to have known you. Rest In Peace.
