I am deeply sorry for your loss, I know the heartache of losing a loved one. Soon the God of Comfort will bring an end to death and wipe away the tears from all faces, for this has been promised at Isaiah 25:8. We can also look forward to the marvelous hope brought out at Acts 24:15 There we see that those we lost in death will be brought back to life here on earth. My sincere condolences are extended to the Holt family. I am from st. Mother Teresa Of Kolkata Catholic Parish in the north end of Halifax. Each Wednesday morning I brought Fred holy communion from our church. I always looked forward to going to Fred's room as he was always so cheerful and receptive to the Eucharist. He showed his faith with this cheerfulness even in the last months of his life. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. I will miss him too.

Fred was the first person to welcome us to our new home in Harrietsfield over 22 years ago. We always looked forward to his walkbys. He was a lovely man and we were blessed to have met him. Our thoughts are with his family as l can only imagine how missed he will be.

Our most sincere condolences To Barb, Jim, and Donna. We have so many fond memories of this Kind, Loving Man, who some would call the "Gentle Giant". My first memory of Fred goes back to when I was 8 years old, he was 18, when I first remember meeting him, and thinking "I wish he was my Big Brother", He was like no one I had ever met before, and probably will never meet again. You never knew what he was going to say next. But, whatever it was it would bring you to laughter. I would sometimes meet him on his delivery route, when he worked for Canada Packers, and he would invite me to come along, so we could have a visit. He would see a couple of Nerdy Guys walking along the street and say to me "There's a couple of your friends, I can tell them anywhere" which would bring us both to laughter. He could also say things that could be very embarrassing, like the time I was in a Tavern, having a few beers with my friends, and Fred would walk in, see me, and Holler out "What are you doing in here, you're not old enough to be in here" I could have slumped down under the table, because I was not old enough to be in there. Luckily, the waiter knew him, and that he was a Joker, so he didn't realize he was telling the truth. There are so many fond memories that I have of him, I could go on for hours. Any time that I feel sad for his passing, I have dozens of good memories that I can remember, and focus on turning the sadness into joy. Rest In Peace Ole buddy, and I hope those in heaven are prepared for your entry! God Bless!

Fred was a big part of my growing up. Many a day sent visiting Fred in his garage. He always had a good joke and kindword for the kids in the neibour hood. My sincere condolenses to Barb and the family.

When I read about Freddy’s passing it brought back nothing but great memories! He was one of the kindest, most caring and genuinely interested people I’ve ever met. From the time I was little, seeing him in the neighbourhood, to my career years when he made his deliveries to our offices, he was was such a joy. He exuded happiness.

I’m so sorry to hear about Fred. My Dad, Gordon Cohoon and Freddy were friends and co workers at the Enn Ess. I’ve heard ..and experienced some wonderful times with Him as a child and adult. Such a personality! I worked at Sobeys for 30 plus years and got to enjoy his boisterous laughter, love of life again as an adult. Always loved Fred's sense of humor. When i would stop on the road to chat he would always call me Mrs. Ossinger not once did he call me Irene.
