I was so sad and sorry that Don passed away so suddenly. He was an easy going, kind, generous, and thoughtful person. Don was a fine gentleman, always putting others first. He had a great sense of humor, and was fun to be around. As I got to know Don better, It became quite obvious to me, that he was quite the handyman, who knew something about everything. I valued his opinions and advice on how to fix things. He was a man of integrity, and a devoted Christian, who valued his religion and attended mass regularly. Don was also very smart. Back in the late sixties, while Don worked for NS Light and Power, I think one of his greatest achievements, was creating and constructing the children's magical Christmas show "The Land of Fantasy" And Magical it was! Schools brought all the pupils in to see it, and I am sure, Don added extra excitement and joy to all the children at Christmas time. As a small child, I loved it, and thought it was fantastic!. I think that pays a special tribute to Don. We also shared the love of the sea, and had sailing in common. Don was a great skater, and also the best skate sharpener around. No one does my skates, the way he could. We skated a lot together, and I was happy to help him around the rink, until he could no longer do it. I still miss him immensely at skating, but I always know he is there in heart and spirit. He was a terrific guy, a great friend of mine, and like family to me.I will miss him very much, and especially our visits at the seniors home. We had some fabulous and interesting times in there. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, at this difficult time. So Long Don! You were a faithful and loyal servant to God. Well done! Love Jane Brookfield
