Sincere condolences to the Spearns family. David and I were the same vintage, having grown up in the cove and hanging around the Spearns house on St. Paul’s avenue among other places. A group of us would watch Hockey night in Canada there while eating jelly roll seconds that David brought home from the bakery in the cove. I still can’t look at a jelly roll. Good guy gone too soon. Rest In Peace David

David was a few years younger than me, but bailed me out many times at the Dalhousie Computer Centre, where he worked the evening shift. We connected socially and had some good times. He was strong and I still remember him pushing my car to jump-start it and get us back to Herring Cove. I'm sorry for your loss and expect to see you all on July 13.

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me”. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease; my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we’re together again.
