Thomas Whittle

Obituary of Thomas Edward Whittle

Age 75, originally from Hr. Breton NL. Passed away at home surrounded by his cherished family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Thomas and Lena (Farrell) Whittle.

Tom’s family was his pride and joy and he was theirs. He loved all of his girls and he was so proud of his Newfie roots. He was happy to tell stories of his days spent in Hr. Breton, especially of how he met “his girl”. Tom was employed with HRM for 35 years as a sign maker. He loved to pass the time doing a good crossword puzzle or watching the news. But nothing gave him more joy than being surrounded by “his girls”. He was lovingly known to many as “Poppy”, not just by his granddaughters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Claire (Molloy); daughters Helena, Deanie and Judy and special son in law Allan; granddaughters Caitlyn (Alain), Erin (Chris), Courtney, Faith, Ashley (Brad), Chloe and Kelsie; cherished sister Geraldine (Bernie); special nephew John; and several other nieces and nephews.

Tom’s family would like to give a special thank you to Drs. Wood, Wilkie and Bell. Nurses Devin, Cindy and Donna; and a very special nurse his granddaughter Erin. Also a heartfelt thank you to our family in Newfoundland for their love and support. Cremation has taken place through J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Donations can be made to the Red Cross. A private family celebration of Tom’s life will take place at a later date. To leave words of comfort for the family please visit www.walkerfh.com
