Obituary of Dorothy Wright

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Dorothy Marguerite Wright. Dorothy was born in Halifax on January 29,1942. She passed away peacefully at home in Halifax on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 80 years of age. 

Daughter of the late Lawrence Wright of Beechville and Marguerite “Lully” Lucas (nee Willis) of North Preston, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her sister Bette Garcia, her oldest child, Catherine Patricia Wright and her partner Vince Williams of East Preston. 

Dorothy is survived by her sisters Lydia Lucas-White and Heather Lucas, and by her brother, Mel Lucas. Dorothy leaves behind her children Deborah (Kitten Slawter), Stewart (Buffy Mcmullin), Richard (Catherine Arsenault), Robert (Grey Muldoon), Christopher (Breanna Worton); and her grandchildren Cordell (Catherine), Wade "Blue Boy” and Chelsea (Deborah), Lacey and Ryan (Stewart), Jasmine, Sashenka, Launa, Richard, Erin, and Joy (Richard), Maya and Aydehn (Robert), Jai-Leigh and Megan (Chris), and her adopted grandchild Jordan; also many great grandchildren.

A natural caregiver, Dorothy continued to mother her entire life as a foster parent, auntie and grandmother who assisted in raising many of her grandchildren.  She was generous with her home and her table, was a dear friend, and attended many friends and family members in their final days.

Dorothy Wright loved to have a good time, dancing, chatting, and playing Whist and darts, with friends. In her last months, she enjoyed drinking a Pepsi, having a cigarette on the porch, and watching at the window for the deer to come into the yard.

Service will be held at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home in Spryfield, Thursday, April 21st. Visitation with the family will be held from 12PM to1:45 PM; with Funeral service to follow at 2PM.
