To the family of Ken “Akela” Cooper -
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Ken.
My two sons grew up in the scouting groups at Emmanuel Church with Akela as their leader. Ken instilled in them a love for the outdoors and camping. If they weren’t actually doing overnights at Camp Nadooae, Cooksbrook, or Scotian Glen in tents or lean-tos, they were outdoors playing games or on bike hikes. I can say for a fact that my grown sons and some of those boys from 1st Spryfield still hike and camp all year round and it’s because of Akela who also instilled in them a sense of fellowship and camaraderie, not to mention how to tie a decent knot!
I had the honour and pleasure of volunteering (a little bit) with Ken and it never went unnoticed how much time and effort Ken invested in all those kids for many years. He will be missed.
Please know that I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope all your wonderful memories of Ken will help you through this difficult time.
