I only discovered that Reg had died …almost a year ago. My sincerest condolences to his family. I taught him Science at Edith Cavell - in Moncton. He was brilliant and humorous. I still tell his joke. “ A father sent his son off to University to study Math. This took quite a lot of money. When the son returned home for Thanksgiving, the father was quizzing him about University. Then the father asked the son to ‘talk some Math”. The son replied… “pi r square”. The father was devastated and replied, ‘I think you are wasting our money learning Math, when everyone knows ‘pies are round’ “. Rest in peace ?

I first met Reg Hody when I was taking Computer Science at Dalhousie University, in the early 1980s. He was a wonderful friend and mentor to me, a brilliant mind, clever and resourceful. His “office” back then was a hobbit hole sanctuary, filled with inspired artwork from others that admired him as much as I did. He was a groomsman at my wedding, and instrumental in helping me create the Fantasy Field Trip Society. That’s him sitting middle-left at our very first game on McNabs Island. He was a sweet soul, ever caring. He slipped away from me for many years later in life, when he moved away, and I will alway regret not keeping in touch as I should have, for I know my life would be that much more enriched if I had. I will miss him dearly.

It has been about 26 years since I last saw Reg while we were both instructors in the AMT program at NSIT on Leeds Street and I am saddened to hear of Reg's passing at such a young age. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP Reg.

Taught by Reg at NSIT, His teaching methods were intense and complex, but he would have no problem sitting down and and helping, Great Man, always started explaining the Big Bang theory. RIP Reg Derrick Coulson
