To Caroline, Janice, Charles, Stephen and your families my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother. She was a force to be reckoned with and a true lady whose smile will be sorely missed. When I think of growing up in the Settlement I can still see your mother and father in the summer walking together on a summer evening to take a swim in the lake. Her commitment to the Anglican Church was definitely echoed by my mom. I wasn't very old and remember her turning around in church to shush my brother Charles and I as we were definitely not being quiet. With Mom playing the organ it was easy to hide behind the larger adults. Jean was one of "the village" that helped to raise the group of us that grew up there in the 60's and 70's. I cherish the times I talked with her and for the wonderful times she gave to my family. Memories are precious and be sure to hold those you have close to your heart.

Our condolances to the Nussey family,, we were friends with Jean since 2000 , for 23 yrs we were friends, she was a very lovely lady who we loved very much , when she lived in Conrod Settlement I would go over to her house and we would talk about everything , and my hubby would plow her driveway sometimes, she was a well spoken lady she told it the way it was, or we would talk on the phone, and when she moved away from Settlement we would still call each other and have our chats, Jean will surely be missed by all,, RIP my dear friend love you, ❤️

Carolyn, Janice, Charles and Stephen - I was sorry to read of your Mum's passing in today's paper. I hadn't seen her in a very long while but I thought of her often - and your Dad and you girls as well. I remember when your house burned in Conrod Settlement. You came home from school and all you owned were the clothes you stood in. Eleanor and I went through our closet and made up a bag of clothes for you. What tickled your Mum most was that we even included bobby pins so you could curl your hair.
I had heard some time ago that she had moved to Northwood. I still don't drive and I kept promising myself that I would get someone to take me to visit her there - but it never happened. I also keep reminding myself that, if you're too busy to go visit your friends, you're too busy.
Jean and my godmother, Nora Killen, were the only two people who called me Clara Margaret all my life. I didn't realize until today that Jean's middle name was also Margaret. I will cherish her memory and continue to remember her, and your family, with many fond memories.
God bless all of you as you mourn her passing.

Sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing, Carolyn and family. I remember being invited into your parents home in Conrod Settlement so many years ago when plans were being discussed and implemented for a swim program at the dam. It was always a delight to spend time chatting with them. Both were so involved with volunteer work! Then to meet your Mom again years later in Halifax and you as well was a pleasure. Hugs to you during this time of grief. My sympathies to all of you.
