Obituary of Jean Margaret Nussey
Age 97, of Halifax, passed away at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Halifax, N.S. on June 1, 2023. Born in Westmount, Quebec on April 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hugo Grant and Mary Edna (Daly) Jones.
After graduating from Westmount High School, she went on to complete the Nursing Program at the Catherine Booth Hospital in Montreal. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University in 1980 and graduated from Mount St. Vincent University with a Bachelor of Education in 1984. While living in Conrod Settlement in the 1960’s she worked at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax. After completing her Bachelor's Education she taught French in Elementary Schools in the Halifax-Dartmouth area. She worked with Literacy Nova Scotia teaching people to read. She also volunteered with Hospice Halifax. She was an active community and church member and enjoyed nature, reading, playing piano, and a good debate. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Kelvyn Cross Nussey, and her sister Doris Jones, Greta ( Walker); brothers Donald, George, Freddie, and Gordon (Buster).
She is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Archibald), and Janice; sons Charles (Paulette), Stephen (Colette). She was also blessed with grandchildren, Matthew (Sharon), Paul, Kathleen, Maegan (Shane), Charles (Laura), Andrew (Chantal), Greggory, Daniel, and great-grandchildren Bradley, Kayley, Amelia, Siara, Raven, Betty, Nancy, Avery, Lukas, Jacob, Rebekah, John, and Rachel.
If friends so desire, tributes may be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
Cremation has taken place.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 10 at Trinity Anglican Church, 321 Main Ave.Halifax, NS officiated by Reverend Benjamin Lee and Andrew Nussey. A reception will follow the service.
The interment service, to which all are welcome, will be held on June 21 at 11:30 am at the St. Barnabas Cemetery, Conrod Settlement Road.
