I met Michael in the first year 1956 at Kingsbury Grammar School, there was a pack of us boys and we would meet frequently after school at his house and dined on M & D biscuits (Mike & Dad's, he called them) as his father worked at the Meridith and Drew biscuit factory. In later years we drifted apart and then by chance we met at Kingsbury station, and he told me he was planning to go to Canada. He never allowed his polio disability to limit his life and as they say he had a "good innings".

Sad to just hear of his passing , but pleased to have known him if only for a few years at school in Kingsbury NW London UK. We shared a hobby of Die cast model cars, and I often visited his home to see his collection of 1/43 scale US models, and his method of producing white wall tyres!! I also met his lovely sister. He and I also shared a like of Elvis music. Reading all these comments it’s a pity we did not keep contact after leaving school, and going our separate ways, but that’s life.

Judy and Jim Matthews and family wish to send our heartfelt sympathies to the entire family of Michael. Michael was a grand person. He led a phenomenal and amazing life. Michael’s children and grand children and his wife Margo will miss him terribly. Michael and Margo had an unmistakable loving bond. The entire family will miss him terribly. We were at Michael and Margo’s wedding about 14 years ago in October 2010. It was a very fancy ceremony at the then Halifax Sheraton. Enjoy the photos God Bless Always

Sending condolences and lots of love to Michael's family and friends. Mr Lavalette (AKA Amy's dad) was a staple of many childhoods in the Fairview/Clayton Park area and a teacher of life to many. He was kind, patient, and worked as our own personal version of Google before the search engine was born - seriously - he knew so much about so much! Whether explaining the rules of tennis so we could follow along with the Grand Slams on tv, explaining the very mysterious election results in the US and who/what a hanging chad was, or just listening to what happened at school that day as he shuttled us to soccer and back - we had so many memories and chats. We we were lucky to have such a safe space at Amy's house during our adolescence - he always opened his home to whomever showed up on his doorstep. Amy, Andy, Ceilidh, Marg and family. We are so sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. We were co-workers and remained good friends after retirement.
