Obituary of Beatrice Marie Hartnett

HARTNETT, Beatrice "Sis" Marie- 91 of Halifax, passed away on January 16, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Beatrice (Boutilier) McLeod and the wife of the late David "Davey" Hartnett.

Sis lived her whole life in Halifax and could tell stories about what it was like being a kid during the Second World War. She and Davey lived in the west end with their daughter, Debbie, until the 1970s, when they moved to Purcells Cove and were joined by granddaughter, Peggy. A small woman with a sharp tongue, Sis loved to knit, watching the wildlife in her own backyard, and whenever she found an old movie she liked she would call her niece to let her know to turn it on. She learned to drive when she was in her sixties and was still driving herself to visit Dylan's No Frills when she was in her nineties.

She was predeceased by husband, David; daughter, Debbie; sisters Vera and Betty. She is survived by granddaughter, Peggy; sister Barb; and several nieces and nephews.
