Jurgen Burchert posted a condolence

My condolences to Sue Ann, Joanne, Kay, Katie, Megan and all the Bartlett family. I had the privilege to live near John in Labrador City. We both served in the Sea Cadet corps where John made sure to look after all those under his direction and he always stepped up when someone needed help. John could not have picked a better career than the Canadian Forces and we thank him and his family for their service.

To the Bartlett family my most sincere condolences. I first met John in 1982 when he and I were members of the Royal Canadian Dragoons Boeselager Team in Lahr, Germany. The attached photograph brings up so many memories of our time together - I am the young Lieutenant at the very left of the photo. John's good nature and competitive spirit served as an example to us all.
He will not be forgotten.
Respectfully, Jim.

John was my instructor in basic in Cornwallis. We later served together in Bosnia in 1997, sadly I never saw him again after he was posted out. RIP John , a soldier we all try to emulate. Retired Warrant Sean Cowperthwaite 1985-2005

I had the good fortune to serve with John in Germany, Cornwallis, Calgary and Edmonton. John was the very definition of a professional soldier. His belief in taking care of the troops and promoting their welfare was well known. John had an outstanding sense of humour which leads me to the memory of the last time we talked. He had me In stitches as the conversation carried on. Time and distance and this thing called life has lead to some regret on my part in that we lost connection over the years. I wish we could have talked more often. Having said that John will join the ranks of those who have passed far too early and as such I will indeed remember him. To Kay and Johns daughters and family my sincere condolences. Rest In Peace John. Till we meet again.

I was one of John's instructors on TQ3 8002. A solid soldier who will be missed. RIP my friend.
