Obituary of David MacDonald

David John Wayne MacDonald, age 48, will be forever missed by his loving family and friends. David passed away in Halifax, surrounded by family the morning of April 18th. Born on March 24th, 1969 David was the 7th child born of 8. He was by far the most gorgeous, talented, dynamic, extraordinary and complex person we may ever encounter in real life, leaving no rest for his family and dedicated followers who attempted to fully understand him or keep up with his continuous trail blazing from one coast to the other. David lived a very full life in an extremely short time. From the time he was old enough to openly express himself, his motions were clear, fiercely forward; defying all Universal Measures. Born gay, a father at age 15, a grandfather (Papa) at age 36; who accomplishes this in 90 years? Had David been given 90 years here, he would have showed us all the way to the Moon and back. Known as StudioXLeNoir within the LGBT Community, David is to date one of the most notorious of Halifax’s Drag Queen Superstars, creating a Legacy not soon forgotten. Much of his life’s purpose was dedicated to charity work, seeking freedom, demanding respect and standing up front line for what is right; amplifying in full form and color, the voices of those who could not speak. David’s iconic presence, profound inner self efficacy and outrageous courage has created historical movement and impacts within his family, friends and the gay community that are nothing short of LEGENDARY. David is survived by his mother, Rhoda MacDonald (Zinck); daughter, Cynthia MacDonald; granddaughter, BrendaLee MacDonald; brothers, Franky MacDonald (Cindy) and Bobby MacDonald; sisters, Kathy Annis (Dave), Charlene MacDonald-Clarke (Sheldon) and Susan MacDonald-Messinger (Frank). David had 10 nieces and nephews: Gary Boudreau, Bobby MacDonald, Brian Makhoul, Jeff MacDonald, Bashir Makhoul, Matthew Annis, Joey MacDonald, Lynne Dempsey, Jessie Annis and Karam Makhoul; 11 great nieces and nephews: Britney and Jordan Field, Emma Powell, Georgia Messinger, Jada Fiddler, Mya Annis, Kaden Gray, Isabelle Annis, Frances Dempsey, Ivy MacDonald and Karma Makhoul and one great great nephew, Gage Field. He was predeceased by his father, Donald MacDonald and brother, Gary MacDonald. David’s family invites you to be a part of his Celebration of Life, lead by Rev. Elaine Walcott, on Saturday, May 6 at 7pm. Please join us respectfully in true color and form.
