Obituary of John Malcolm Huskins

It is with heavy hearts, yet beautiful memories, that we announce the death of John Malcolm Huskins on March 8, 2018, with his family by his side. Born in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Everett and Emma Huskins.

John worked for CBC for 36 years. The favorite parts of his job were the many friends he made there, the weekly poker games, and world travel. In his retirement, John spent much time reading, playing cards and working around the house. Time was also spent with Gail and her horses. He was her hero. Gary and his father also spent much time together, watching 80’s action movies, discussing politics and enjoying the occasional cigar. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eunice; to John his greatest accomplishments were his loving son, Gary; daughter, Gail; grandchildren, Spencer and Erin; Betty (Russ); Beatty (Don deceased); brother, Anthony. His love knew no bounds and his happiest times were those he spent with his family. He was predeceased by brother, George (Anne); sisters, Muriel (Clifford) and Helen.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. John’s wishes were that there be no visitation and no eulogies, he was simply thankful for a happy and well lived life of 87 years. A Mass in Celebration of John’s life will be held from St. Michael’s Church in Spryfield on Thursday March 15, at 10:30 am with Fr. David Bansiibu as celebrant. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery Lower Sackville. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.

We are and forever will be grateful to the 3rd floor of Arborstone Enhanced Care, where John spent the final years of his life. We became part of a caring family there. Special thanks to Dr. Meehan, Tammy, Barry and Rosie. Rest In Peace John.
