Ann Marie & Family,
Growing up in the 50`s and especially in north end Halifax we were all close and everyone knew the Shadbolts of Merkel St. Why, because they were unique for the period....outgoing, boisterous, honest (spoke their minds) warm and fun to be around.
Your uncle Tom was/is my best friend and when Midge was going to bingo I had to kiss her on the cheek for good luck. If she won, she would then give me a quarter and true to her word she did give me many of them over the years. She was a wonderful woman and married a wonderful man in Gordie Cooper. He, as it happens, lived next door to my grandmother, just one street over. Years later, when I had the privilege of working with you (for too short a time kiddo) you reminded me of the best of both of them.
Suffice to say, I will always miss her and hope that she takes it easy on GOD so I can give her a quarter when we meet again. GOD Bless. xoxo
